My name is Rory, and I am learning to become a pilot. I will be a third generation pilot in my family when I complete my goal.

My grandfather was an aviation pioneer who flew biplanes. He was a barnstormer and he established 2 municipal airports that are still in operation to this day. He taught many people how to fly including my dad who went on to become a commercial airline pilot.
Ever since a very young age, I have been fascinated with all things related to planes and flying. I grew up in an airline family. Both of my parents worked for the airlines, my dad was a pilot and my mom was first a flight attendant and later a reservations agent. Currently, my oldest brother is a successful commercial airline pilot, another brother, sister and brother in-law are all flight attendants. I have worked in the IT industry for more than a decade and it has always confused my friends why I did not choose the airline career path.
While I may not end up working for an airline myself, I know that my future is one that absolutely includes aviation. I am pursuing my private pilot’s license and flying certifications beyond that. I started this blog to document the process of obtaining my private pilot’s license, but realized that with my family all having great stories to share about flying that it would be an injustice to not give this website a broader focus.
Flying and aviation are my passion I am doing what I love, and that is why working on this blog will bring me great enjoyment.
